Sending PPT to Word

I have been doing this for years to create handouts, using File/Send to/etc.
Suddenly, only the first slide gets sent and then i get a message: PowerPoint
couldn't write to Microsoft Word. Help!

Hi Janet,

I've not seen it do this before. Could you try something?

Make a new presentation of 8 blank slides and send them to Word. Does that
work?

If it does, make a copy of your presentation. Delete slide 2 from the copy
and see if Send to Word works then. Did that change anything?

If the new 8 slide presentation did not work, then I would try a detect and
repair on PowerPoint.
If deleting slide 2 worked, then I would recommend rebuilding slide 2
(possibly corrupted).
How big is the presentation?

Well, i created the 8 blank slides and it worked with no problem.
I deleted slide 2 of my current presentation (25 slides, 251 KB - small) but
it still didn't work.

Could you send me the presentation? I'd be glad to take a look at it and
see if I can find what's broken.

Bill,
Your response gave me an idea. I saved the file as a PPT 95 version,
thinking maybe something was corrupted. Now it works and when i resave at
the higher 2003 version, it also works. I did have a virus on my computer
last week and maybe that file was open and got messed up. Thanks for your
help. Happy New Year. Janet

Here is the problem. Slide 1 has become corrupted (The 'send to word' never
actually gets to slide 2).

It is easy to repair in your case by inserting a new title slide and
re-entering the word 'Welcome' in the placeholder, and deleting the original
slide 1.

It can also be fixed by round tripping the presentation through HTML. See:
HTML "Round-tripping" to repair corruption

Thanks Bill,
I will be aware for future problems. Also thanks for your prompt replies.
i've never used this feature but will do so in the future.

Just an aside. My coworker uses a Mac. This send to feature doesn't seem to
be part of her PPT ( i don't know what version it is). Is there a way to work
around this?

Happy new year. Janet
