Sending pdf file attachments

I am having trouble sending a pdf file to someone that
uses Mozilla for their email program.

My pdf file gets converted to a winmail.dat file when
they receive the email message. If they reply the
message returns with the pdf file attached.

Any suggestions as to why this happens?

I am sending through a pop3 account.

Rich Text messages can only be read by Outlook, You're sending someone with
Mozila a message format only Outlook can decode. Send either Plain Text or
HTML format messages.
 
Hi!

You should have a trouble even when you send email without attachment.
Check the following settings: Tools\Options\Mail Format\Internet Format.
Turn off rich text format everywhere.
