sending mp3's as background in outlook express 6

i want to send an email with an MP3 but Outlook Express
seems to expand the MP3 to a WAV or some other, much
larger format when I send the message. Because I am
sending to hotmail.com accounts (and the like) I need the
message to be small. What format should I use as the
background music, and how do I convert the MP3 to that
format?

You can send mp3's :

Make sure that you're mail set up is for HTML messages and not plain text
(Options > Send)

Then, in the body of the message, Format > Background > Sound > select the
file you want to send.
