sending movies e-mail?

Sorry but it seems when you have questions you always
have more then one.
I've sent movies in the past some as large as 5mgs. I had
a problem sending one and the message said,"server not
able to send over by 543(I forgot the rest of message but
you get the idea).
So I asked my server just what size e-mail attachment
(movie size) I can send using my server. They told me
only 1-1.2mgs. What? I've sent pictures with larger mgs.
then that!
I know servers must have an average size round-about so
does anyone know how many mgs. a person can send through
an e-mail?
Since people are making more movies you'd think they
would increase the size you could send. This is 2004.
There haven't been to many improvments in this area. You
can make the movies easier now but good luck sending them.
Is there a reason why they (the server) doesn't increase
the capabilities of sending and recieving more mgs. for
movies and picture movies?
Am I missing something somewhere? I am a new user so be
kind, please.

Your ISP sets the max size of files they will allow to be
sent as attachments.
Their are no "standards" as such,

If you had used what little functioning brain tissue you
you have you might have been able to work this one out
on your own. People are, as you say, "making more movies,"
and these movies have a tendency to make for rather large
files. If ISPs didn't set a limit on attachment size soon
all of their bandwidth would be consumed by people sending
huge files to one another.

It's not so much a bandwidth thing but the amount of storage space that
would be used on the servers. That's not too hard to figure out either.

Your personal remark in your first sentence was uncalled for. Does it make
you feel better to cut other people down?

Do you use Outlook Express?
If so, go to Help and look up "breaking up large messages" then look
up "combine and decode"

"Bandwidth," in a broad sense, applies to capacity
issues in general, you moron. Now I feel REALLY good.

my server e-mailed me back with better info the amount
was higher. 10mgs. There is also another file format that
you can send it with. (misplaced the imfo)

Not to nitpik (well, OK, I guess I am), but the correct abbreviation for
megabytes is MB, not mgs.

Glad you got some good responses. Most posters are very helpful.
