Sending MailMessage gets an exclamation point-space added

Microsoft .NET 1.1 ASP.NET using VB.NET

I'm using System.Web.Mail.MailMessage to create an email and an SMTPMail
object to send the mail. I assume that it is using the virtual SMTP server
to send the mail out. The problem is that the messages sent get an
exclamation point and a space inserted around the 765th character no matter
what I make the body

Have you found out anything about this issue? I am running into the same
problem and yours is the only post I can find anywhere.

I never heard anything back about this. Nor did I ever solve the problem.
We just live with it.
