I used POP3 in my Outlook 2000 to download my email from
my mail server. I successfuly downloaded all my mails but
my problem is when I composed a new email it cannot be
sent to a specific email address. It it is still in the
outbox and trying to semd. In my account properties--
server tab the Incoming Mail (POP3) & Outgoing Mail
(SMTP) the entry name same.

Actually we register only one name in our ISP that we used
to resolve all our email in the internet thats
mail.ourcompany.com & we used this domain name for sending
and receiving mail from our mail server.

It's unlikely that incoming and outgoing entries would be the same.

On my system, incoming is pop.earthlink.net and outgoing is
smtpauth.earthlink.net.

I'd check with your ISP to make sure you have your SMTP settings correct.
That's almost certainly the problem if you're receiving mail OK.

I've got the same problem on Outlook 2000. I use Earthlink too, and for the past 2 years, our Incoming POP3 and Outgoing SMTP were the same: "mail.earthlink.net" and everything worked fine. Recently, our outgoing messages have been not getting sent and sometimes error messages appeared when I would hit send/receive. I called Earthlink and they told me to change the incoming mail to "pop.earthlink.net" and the outgoing to "smtpauth.earthlink.net". This change stopped the error messages from coming up, but did not solve the problem of messages stuck in the outbox

The current problem is this: I create a message, hit Send, and the message goes to the outbox. I then click on Send/Receive and the tasks window pops up like usual. However, under the tasks tab, there is only one task: "Receiving mail on account mail.earthlink.net" which completes successfully. However, there is no second task even listed which would be responsible for the "Sending mail on account etc." Therefore, the operation works correctly and the tasks all get completed, but the problem is that there is no second task listed responsible for the sending of mail, and thus no mail gets sent

The Earthlink technician told me that this would be a Microsoft Outlook problem, not an Earthlink issue since everything with that was configured properly. What can I do to send mail again with Outlook
