Sending mail to contacts

I am using Outlook 2000.

1. When I go to the Contacts list and select 'New Message to Contact' in the
message popup window the TO field does not contain the full name of the
contact - only the email address. Am I missing something? I'd like to be able
to select a contact in the list and have their full name in the TO field.

2. The contacts listed in Select Names from New Mail Message window all have
'(E-mail)' added at the end. This is also added if you select the contact. I
am wondering if it's possible to just have full-name listed.

I remember both of these work on my work PC, but not on home PC. Any
workaround?

Thanks,
Nenad

OK, I found the solution to problem 2:
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/emaildisplay.htm

Anyhow, although on MS support page it says (Email) is not seen by the
recepient, I have done a simple test (sending the mail to myself) and it is
very much seen.

Anyone know the solution to problem number 1. It seems that it should
resolve the Name when I select it from the Contact folder, but it does not.

You have not provided enough information to answer your question.
Outlook 2000 exists in 2 completely separate modes. Corp/Workgroup mode
provides access to the Email Display As field. Internet Mail Only mode does
not.

When I look in the Help-About Outlook I see Corporate or Workgroup. Not sure
if this is the correct way to determine.
If I right click on the email address I get the Display Name in the popup. I
can set it there. However when I send the message it`s putting single quotes
around the display name.

So what question are you asking now?

Well, the behaviour of the Display Name is weird:

1) If I change the Display Name by right clicking in Email field in Contact
form it doesnt display the email in the Email field - it displays the Display
Name
2) If I add a contact when I get a new email message the contact has correct
Display Name (taken from received message) and it shows the email address in
the Email field
3) If I send a mail to the contact from New Message the contact gets the
email with correct Display Name
4) If I send a mail using New Message to Contact the contact gets the email
with Display Name in single quotes

Id like to have some consistency. First of all 2 and 3 are correct. I could
live with 4, although I dont get why there is a difference. I need to have 1
working like 2 since I like using the contact list directly and going through
the list (for this I need to see their email address in the list and not
their Display Name).
Cant find anything on this on the web...

Thanks for any help

The behavior of the Email Display As field is different in each version of
Outlook, so there is no consistency.
It is a matter of very little consequence. Not sure why you think it is or
what you need to do.

Thank you for the answer. The problem is that I am using Outlook as my
primary venue for communicating with customers and keeping a list of those.
I'd like them to see that mail is directly addressed to them. In this age of
so much spam I can see some of them deleting if they don't see their name in
the To field or if they think it's been sent by a script (single quotes
around name look suspicious).
I guess there isn't a solution or a workaround?

Thanks again for quick replies. Highly appreciated here!

I thought that might be what you were thinking.
The Email Display As field only controls what you see, not what the
recipient sees. If you put a recipient in the To: field, they will see
either their email address or their name or both, depending on how their
email software conveys what is contained in the email header.
