Sending From Multiple Accounts

I have 3 email accounts setup (each valid on a different service
providor).

If I send an email from Account A while offline, then connect to
Service Providor B, Outlook with automagically change the account and
send it from Account B! (The email goes out from Account B email
address with the Account A signature.)

I presume the thinking is that Outlook can't send it from Account A
(because the Account A SMTP outgoing server wont accept email when not
logged onto Service Providor A) so it tries to send it from Account B
instead.

This obviously causes grief if you want to keep two parts of your life
separate.

How can this "feature" be turned off?

Thanks

Outlook 2003? This is expected, even though it's not desired.

It's not a feature, it's a bug and will be addressed in the next Service
Pack for Office. Instead of the message being delivered via the wrong
account, you'll get a non-delivery error, or so I've picked up from those
with closer access to Microsoft.

Thanks Brian. It's good to know I'm not going mad. A non-delivery error
would be fine.

Any idea when we might expect the SP?

Well, no sooner said than done!

My auto update feature downloaded SP2 this morning and I've tested it
and it works.

When I send now I get a cryptic error message:

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 28/09/2005 9:35 PM
550 relaying mail to hotmail.com is not allowed

But it's better than sending from the wrong address.

Thanks for your timely advice.

This is usually the result of not properly authenticating to the outgoing
server. The sending address domain does not match the ISP domain. When
that's the case, you must authenticate to the outgoing server to prove
you're using the ISP's server legitimately.
