Hi hope someone can help
I can receive email but the following error message is displayed when I try
to send Have checked with provider and server names are correct
The host 'SMTP3...........' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.
Subject '', Account: 'POP3..................', Server:
'SMTP3...............', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Your provider was not giving you correct information.
"SMTP3" is not a correct mail server name.
Who is your email service provider? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider.

'SMTP3...............' is not a valid server name. Ask your email provider
for
their instructions on how to set up to connect to their email servers. If
they
haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet, their instructions for
Outlook Express should also work under Windows Mail if they don't call
for the HTTP protocol. Many people use their internet providers as their
email providers also, since most internet accounts include one or more
email accounts. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web
site. Or, you could tell us which email provider you're trying to use, and
see if anyone here already knows where to find their instructions.

I have the similar prob as Marlin, and it's irritating to go thru all the
hoops that instructions direct users to jump thru, and not have the results.
I am trying to send some photos from windows photo gallery, to my email
address in hotmail, and I have seen the statement that my hotmail account is
my Windows Live ID. I don't know the paths to take to get the error corrected.
Thanks for your help.

It doesn't sound to me like your problem is similar to Marlin's.
Do you get the same error message?
Which email program are you using? You say you are sending to
a Hotmail address, but that is not nearly as pertinent as the email
address you are sending it *from*.

If Hotmail is your only email service, then there's no need to mess
with Windows Mail, just apply this fix to make Hotmail your default
email:
