When I go to: Windows Mail/Contacts and select a contact then
clickAction/Send email, I am presented with a page to create the email, but
no 'send' button. I am dutifully informed that 'this message has not been
sent', but there is no visible means of SENDING it ! Any suggestions ? At
present I have to go out of contacts and into 'create mail' to send messages.

Why go into Contacts first? Starting an email that way doesn't always

The easiest way is:
Click Create Mail, click To, select recipient.

I'm sure I used to be able to send e-mails from outlook express via the
'actions' option in contacts ? I was just wondering if I was missing some
obvious button to replicate the process in WM. Thanks for you advice.

You should be able to do it that way. Just make sure that Windows Mail is
your default mail program.
I tried it, and it opened my Thunderbird compose email window, because
that's my default email program.
