Sending but not receiving

email was downloading last evening fine, now this evening only the send will
go out. I sent a test email to myself, it never came in. I have brighthouse
cable, I called earthlink , they told me to wait a few minutes, its probably
down, it has now been two huors, and still no email. I turned off AVG,
anything else I can try. I don't think its my cable, because, TV and
Internet are working fine.

Did you get any error messages when you tried your mail?

It would help us immensely if you copy and paste it to your reply to this
thread.

Turn AVG back on NOW. More on this point later.
 
No error mesages, I hit send receive, and it appears that there are no
messages.

I am having the same problem except I have comcast high speed and Norton.
When send recieve is running an error does sho up for a few seconds it is,
"unknown error 0x80040600." I had no problems untill I installed the latest
updates and when I uninstalled Outlook 2007 windows mail work just fine. Even
when I reinstalled 2007 everything worked but as soon as the updates went
through I recieved the same uknown error 0x80040600.
 
Just disabling AVG will not take it out of the picture altogether.
Chances are, your AVG antivirus was installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.
