How do I send an email to a group and have each email appear as if it were
only sent to that person?

Either use the BCC field or a mail merge.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Aprilmelissa asked:

But if you use the BCC field, the name will not appear as addressee for the
blind recipient either. Nevertheless, when I don't feel entitled to share
email addresses and want to send to a bunch of people, I will usually email
to myself with BCC to the actual recipients.
