Does Windows XP Home come with a fax server? If so, how
do I find it? I bought an all in one that does not send
hard copies of faxes, I need to scan it and fax it or
something, anyway, it's not working and I'm completely
confused. Do I need to buy and install a separate (fax)
modem from the modem that's being used to dial into AOL?

Yes , XP comes with a fax program. It is listed in Programs / Accessories /
Communications. If it isn't , it can be added in Add and Remove Programs /
Add and Remove Window Components . Most , if not all modems have fax
capabilities. Documents can be faxed through the print to fax capability of
your printer once the fax is set up. Jym

If the modem is a standard FAXMODEM, and most are, it should work.

Place the XP CD in the drive
Open Control Panel|ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
Click on ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS
Checkmark the Fax Services box
Click on CHANGE/REMOVE

If the installer stops, and says it cannot find a file, point the install
path to the i386 directory (folder) on the CD.

Yes. XP does have the capability to send faxes. You can add it by using
the Add/Remove Windows Components applet in Control Panel. You then can fax
a document from an application like Word, or PhotoShop and so on. But you
need to get your all-in-one up and running properly. After all, you paid
good money for it. Try reinstalling the printer and see if you can get it
to fax a document.
