How do I configure Outlook 2000 to automatically send and receive messages
when the program is opened as opposed to clicking the "send/receive" button?

Thanks in advance.

Tools>Options>mail setup>Send Receive button, set up an automatic
send/receive time interval of not less than 5 minutes. You might need to
adjust these directions for OL 2k.

Thanks for the response but I have changed that setting and it still will
not open automatically when Outlook starts. Any other suggestions?

In Outlook 2000 you must specify your mail support mode for us to be able to
answer you.

Sorry to be stupid but what do you mean by "mail support mode".

Thanks again.

Read the article I posted.
It tells you how to find your mail support mode: line 2 of Help | About.

The mode is set to internet mail only.

How do I get "send/receive" to open automatically when Outlook opens?

Thanks for sticking with me.

Configure an automatic polling interval and set your connection type to LAN.
