Hi,
I have Outlook 2002. When I press the send/receive button or pressing F9 I
get "operation failed". I am able to send and receive by clicking tools and
send receive individual accounts.
There is also a stray folder named "Hotmail (1)" for which no email account
has been assigned. When I click on it, I get the following error: "Unable to
display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder
location. The file C:\Documents and Settings\NoS1eep\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft Outlook Internet
SettingsHotmail (1)-00000005.pst could not be found." How do I delete this?

Under Outlook 2002, try File->Data File Management and remove the reference
to the Hotmail account. Then run Detect and Repair.

Nope, the account is not listed. Additional info: I had outlook 2000, tried
outlook 2003, uninstalled it and installed outlook 2002. The error occured
during the trial period for Outlook 2003. Is there anyway to completely
uninstall all reference to all of the Office installs, so that I can just
start out clean?
Have already spent way more time than this small problem is worth.
