Selective Backup

Hello:

Is it possible to do a selective backup of a windows xp professional system ?

I want to backup the entire operating system, with drivers, registry etc and
none
of the applications. In case of a system crash, I want to be able to
reinstall the backup (which will just reinstall a working OS). Is this
possible ? If so, how do I do this ?

The reason is that I am fairly limited in resources to backup entire hard disk
and I want to just backup the working components of the OS so that a restore
will at least boot back. I can reinstall the applications at will.

Thanks

Just my 2 cents but if you are limited on backup resources and you have the
XP CD you may make better use of your backup resources by backing up your
important files. In the event of a system crash, just like the applications,
you can reinstall XP and the applications from CD.

I would suggest backing up your important files instead of information you
already have on CD.

Thank you for the answer. I understand that everything is on the CD and I have
backed up my important files as well.

The point is that once I restore from CD, I have to go through the entire
process
of getting service packs, installing them etc which is time consuming.

Ideally I would want to backup just the OS and office as that is what I use
all the time, but I would be happy with just the working OS for now.

Hopefully this clarifies my question.
