Selecting My Computer causes long delay in displaying contents

After selecting my computer, via the desktop or the
explorer, it takes a long time, up to five minutes, to
display the contents. The disk has been optimized,
cleaned (spybot and ad-aware), etc, with no change.

I was having the same problem. Consistent 90 second delay in Windows
Explorer and to get to a web site entered in the Address bar of IE. This was
a big hassle until I found the following fix:
