I've got a multiple spreadsheet layout that I want to print. After setting
the print area on sheet 1, the default area selected was down to line 56. On
following sheets after setting the print area the default area selected only
reaches row 52. All specs on all sheets are identical. Doh, Can anyone tell
me why the print ranges on different spreadsheets are different sizes?
I posted this post on on microsoft.public.excel.printing ng yesterday but
haven't had any responses.

The best thing to do is set the print area if you are having trouble. One
way is File>Print Area>Set Print Area for each sheet. If data is entered in
a ws then subsequently deleted, XL may retain that blank are as a part of
the Print Area.

What do you mean by default area? Is it the area shown with dotted
lines on the spreadsheet as your print area? Or is it what shows up on
the printed output, and you get two pages each for Sheets 2 and 3.
Both?

Which version of Excel are you running? I noticed that on Excel2000,
the maximum number of rows printed with default settings is 51 (on an HP
laser and 52 on a Canon bubblejet), with data entered in every row,
Arial font, size 10. So. on one printer at least, 52 rows is the
default. If I set identical print areas and make similar margin
adjustments on all three sheets, they all print identically.

Some ideas: the sheets have different fonts, top and/or bottom margins
are different, the "Fit to" command was used for Sheet 1 and not the
others. What differences do you see between sheets in Print Preview >
Setup...?
