Selecting email addresses from a group

I often receive email from an individual which I then forward to a group.
This individual is also part of the group I am forwarding the email to. That
person then gets back the same thing they sent to me. Is there a way of
selecting only certain people from a group in order to avoid the above?

Is this "group" a genuine address on a list server or is it a Distribution
List in your Contacts folder?

Distribution list in my contacts. (Outlook 2002)

Create a second DL with that person's address removed. If you get the
chance to upgrade to Outlook 2003, you'll be able to expand the DL in the
recipient field and then remove individual addresses.
