Select text rectangle

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is such a thing as a freeware text editor
which allows to select rectangular portions of text (i.e., a couple of
columns). Something like the selection showed in the capture at
http://www.robelle.com/tips/images/qwin-boxes01.gif

TIA and regards!
ConTEXT is a small, fast and powerful text editor, developed mainly to
serve as secondary tool for software developers. After years and years
searching for suitable Windows text editor, I haven't found any of them
to completely satisfy my needs, so I wrote my own.

This editor is freeware. Anyway, I'd like to hear your comments and
suggestions, to discuss about it and implement it in future versions.

Most (if not all) Scintilla based editors do that:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

Btw.: It's always worth a try to select a block of text with the left
mouse key while having the Alt key pressed. More word processing programs
and text editors support this, than one would think.

You're welcome.

I'm posting from a VMS version of 'tin' with ED as its editor.
ED runs on VMS and most flavors of unix, as well as Windows from
a DOS box.

Yep. You're doing a great job also there! :-)
ATM I can't, but in the future I hope to contribute...

That's the nicest thing about a wiki - you can add info whenever *you* want to. :)
