Greg M

I have 5 years of MS Access/VBA development experience and am moving
into the VB.net world. I am seeking a tutor which could facilitate
this move.

I live in Anderson, IN and am willing to travel to Indianapolis or
within 50 miles of my home. I have some specific questions that I
would like answered/explained to me. I would also like to develop a
mentoring relationship which would allow me to ask questions in the
future as well (for a fee of course). I don't know what the standard
rate is, but I am not averse to paying a high price if someone can
give me the answers I seek.

In person training would be preferable. But if I can't find this I am
certainly open to training by phone, email or IM.

Thanks,
Greg M

What kind of questions do you have?

The friendly folks in this UG have been IMMENSELY helpful to me--both in
answering MY questions and in answering OTHER people's questions (I learn as
much when I read other people's questions and the answers they recieve as
when my own questions are being answered).

Its not really possible for me to adequately thank the gang here.

You'll definitely find a lot of great people willing to help in this and
most of the other .NET Ng's. If you have some specific questions or things
you'd like to review, drop me an email.. I'll defintely be glad to help. I
live in GA so the Indianapolis thing won't work, but I'm, email or web
conference is no problem and you don't need to worry about paying...I've
gotten enough free help over the years it's the least I can do.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Greg,

Load vs .net, the developer edition of sql server 2000, buy a good book or 2
on vb .net, and get to work building test apps. As you do so, ask questions
by the dozens here and on other .net newsgroups. The help is free, and,
better, it's great - I help others when I can; I have been helped countless
times - and I always get the answer I need, never fails.

I agree with All here you can get all the help that you need and more. I find that by just reading you find ideas that you would have never thought of in the first place
Also I have found that by reading the books and doing the classes you would learn cirtain things, but there is no replacment for the experiance in this group for helping with those little nagging questions

Regards, Glenn, Forever greatful to the support of this Group...

Greg,

I started as a newbie in November, I had no VBA, or access programming
experience. I started with some simple applications, and database, if I got
stuck I asked a question here (Ok well maybe hundreds of questions).
Normally within a couple of hours (If not quicker) i`ve had a reply, and
then on i went with my project again.

There are loads of poeple in here always willing to help. Buy a book think
of some test projects, and have a go, like i said if you get stuck ask in
this NG, i`ve learn`t loads from this lot, even by reading the replys to
others problems.

Im sure as a sort of newbie yourself, you will come accross the same
problems I have, and probably the same as many others, if i can help i will.
Cor, CJ, William Ryan, Herfried, and others have all let me send projects to
them, when i`ve had a problem, ajusted the project and sent it back to me
with an explination as to why and what has been done, Im sure they would do
the same for you.

Like I said best thing to do is think of a project, have a go and if you get
stuck post in this NG

Just my pennys worth.

Ta
MCN
