Perhaps someday, you will not be able to boot because the registry is "bad".
Then what will you do?

It is wise it make a backup copy of the registry and keep several versions
of it. A good, free program for this is ERUNT. It can be set as a
scheduled task to run daily. The registry can be restored from the recovery
console. If one regularly uses a registry cleaner the odds are good they
will come to that day when it will not boot. Or if it boots, things are
messed up.

My Emachine does not come with the Recovery Console. Can I use one of the
options on page 2 of the Wxp boot menu?

You need to have a windows CD to get into the recovery console. It doesn't
matter which version CD is used, since the product key is not entered to get
into the recovery console. So you can just borrow one from someone.
Personally I wouldn't have a system that didn't have a windows installation
CD. You can always buy an OEM version.

If I had a second partition that was bootable, couldn't I find an old
"compressed" registry on the unbootable partition then "extract" it then
copy/paste it to the unbootable partition?
