How do make a document secure? I do not want the client to be able to change
anything on the document.

Seal the document in a glass case before giving it to the client. As a
precaution, it's generally best to include a chemical in the sealed case
which, when mixed with air, causes the enclosed paper to be destroyed
immediately if the glass case is broken.

Barring such extremes... different degrees of security -- but nothing is
foolproof -- can be attained depending on what version of Word you're using.
What version of Word are you using? Look at Tools - Option - Security and
Tools - Protect Document to see some of the Word-based options available.

That's correct but to simplify the other response a little more, go to Tools,
Protect Document and click the Tracked Changes button and enter a password.
Then only you can make revisions to your document.

That's not actually what that option does. When a document is protected for
tracked changes, edits can be made but they are tracked as changes and
tracking can't be turned off - so you have a record of the changes made.
