How do I change this feature... When I try to run a
shortcut from the network ...something.exe I get a
security box asking me if I want to open this because it
could contain a virus.. (there is a check box to not
prompt me anymore, except it is all greyed out)??????

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having this same problem after upgrading to the latest support pack
using Windows Update.

Windows Explorer is acting like a web browser instead of a file utility.
This problem only happens when I am trying to access file from a
network/mapped drive.

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug,

I tried the file and it didn't fix the problem.

I selecting Start > Run > Z:\dir\file.exe and I get a dialog window that
says "File Download" and has buttons for Open, Save (greyed out), Cancel,
More Info.

The option to uncheck "Always ask before opening this file type" is greyed
out also.

This would be expected if I was clicking on an EXE from IE6. I am using
windows explorer.

This didn't happen until I used Windows Update and put all the critical
patches on.

Any ideas?

TIA
