Security Update

Can anyone tell me roughly how long it would take to download Security
Update Rollup 1 using a 56K modem. Want to make sure I start the download
when I have enought time to complete it. Thought it best to do this Update
first and then the others after. Update is showing me 13 Critical Updates
and 13 updates for Window XP (not sure I actually need all of the XP ones)

Security Update Rollup 1, KB826939, has two versions: express-installation
(2.7MB) and standard (8.96MB). The former is available from the Windows
Update website only, and that is
the version I have. The 56Kb modem download took roughly 10m and the
installation just a little over the same again. The installation was
unexpectedly prolonged because soon after it started there was hectic
*inbound* traffic, which lasted 10m as indicated by my ZoneAlarm traffic
meter. Incidentally, the installation of KB824105, a much smaller file,
also showed this behaviour.

Hi Bee
Looking at the sizes I presume there is a difference in the content? I would
be going through the Windows Update site where it tells you what critical
updates you need.

I've done the Rollup 1 interestingly it only showed as something 262kb
though

Yes, I recall something like that in my last install. I have no answer to
your question though.
