security update installs

I have given up on AutoWindowUpdates. It just doesn't
work and I want to get them installed, so I found the
security download site and downloaded 2 to see if it
worked. It did, but now: what are the install procedures?
double-click the .exe file or ? Please help, I have
waisted 2 months waiting on the autoupdate to work, and
need to get on to other things with my new machine.....
Also, does anyone know what error 0x80072EFE from the
autodownload site means? How to install is more
important, but would like to know why autoupdate doesn't
work for me.

If you downloaded the updates from the Windows Update Catalog, you can
find them in a WU folder on the target drive. Double-click the EXE
files to start the installation.

Double click on the downloaded file.

Start > All Programs > Windows Update:: just follow
the yellow brick road.
