Security Update CD

I just got the CD Security update and like to know if it is ok to install it as I sometimes hear that certain updates can slow down the system !!

First, are you sure it is an "official update"? How did you get it?

If you know it is valid (there are a lot of people out there trying to
look official) then you have a choice. Do the update (it may even speed
things up) or don't. Doing the update does not assure security, but not
doing it assures you will have less security. There are worse things than a
slow computer.
