Dear All,

I would like to know how I can make sure that nobody else
can access my C: drive on my PC. The computer is used in
a network. However, I do not want other pople sniffing
around in my data and by the way I am supposed to make
sure that the data are safe. Is there an easy way for me
to do this or can only the administrator change the
appropriate settings? I'm not that familiar with Windows.

Is there for me an easy way to check if anybody else was
sniffing around in my data files (is this somewhere
documented in the system: who was in, when did it happen,
what did he do?)

Best regards,

I believe that only administrators can set access
privileges on drives. Your administrator needs to set the
permissions to where only your user name can access the
drive. About the sniffing around, only if there are
system and security audit logs enabled for that specific
topic. It's rather difficult to describe. I would
consult your administrator about the audit logs.
However, until you can get those permissions set, I would
NOT share your drive if it's that important to you that
you keep your information secure. Feel free to ask for
more help with Windows.
