Security Service Update - .exe file

I received an email from Microsoft this morning to
download an executable file to take care of the lastest
virus problems with MS. I had to disable virus
protection from my McAfee Virus Scan program to install
it. Afterwords, I re-activated my Virsu Scan, and now
none of my programs work. (The .exe files seem to be
missing!) I tried to do a System Restore, but it says
the rstrui.ese file is missing. I can't email for
assistance. I can't do anything!! What is your fix to
this problem?

Can you do a restore to get back to where you were previously???
