Security options disabled on PPT

I want to save a presentation with password protection, because I don't want
people to change or copy it. I followed the instructions on help, but the
options under Tools, Options, Security (tab), are disabled. How can I enable
them?

Have a check in Tools > Options > Edit (tab) and see if "password
protection" has been disabled.
