Hi All,
I read on one of the NGs that someone ran an MDE file made from an older
version of Access (I think they were using 2003) with the free runtime
version from 2007. Everything ran as expected they reported.
So, I tried the same with my program. I first made an MDE file (this time
with A2K). I installed the free Access 2007 runtime on a new laptop I have.
It already had A2K on it, but renamed so it wouldn't run automatically but I
wanted to try this under Vista and it's my only Vista machine.
When trying to run the MDE, it first comes up with a Security Notice - A
potential security concern has been identified: Warning It is not possible
to determine that the content came from a trustworthy source. etc...
That's for the front end. For the back end, I have 3-5 different data
sources, so there's a menu that pops up to chose which one. Once the choice
is made, the program unlinks from whatever it was on prior, and relinks all
the tables required for the new data source. However, for EVERY link
command, it gives this same Security Notice screen. There are 25 tables.
Ugh.
Once all the tables are relinked (by clicking on Open, even tho the source
isn't "trustworthy"), the program seems to run as intended. So, without
buying 2007, is there a way to get this to work? I'm assuming (and please
let me know if I'm wrong) that this security thing has to do with the
"trusted location" thing I've been reading about--but it seems the only way
to change that stuff is with the actual Access 2007. So...
Anyone know anything about this?
TIA,
ron
