On the Windows Update site, there was a message to be
sure to download the file M503-026 WIN XP (823980. Yet I
can't find this file anywhere. Can you help?

On the Right hand side of the page, there is a Download
option. Choose your language, I assume 'English' and
click download. Works nicely for me.
