Hello.

I have installed my brother's hard drive on my system because he had to
sell his machine and I did not want him to mess with my own system. His
HD has Windows XP Professional (same as mine) and two FAT32 partitions
(whereas mine uses NTFS).

So we now get a boot option menu and things are working fine, except for
a nasty issue which actually defeats my original intent. The problem is
that my brother has full visibility and access to all my files, even
those in the personal directories. I already tried messing with the
security options, but nothing seems to take effect. Is that expected? Is
there a way to work around this problem or something which I have been
missing which I could try? Has anybody any experience with such a situation?

Thank you,

Try opening Device Manager.
Start>Run>
Type in 'devmgmt.msc' and press 'OK'

Click on the Hard Drive which contains your files
Click on Properties

Under Device Usage
Change to 'Do not use this device [disable]'

Click 'OK'

reboot to his Windows

The hard drive should not be viewable or accesssible.

Thanks. It works and it will suffice for my needs. However, this is a
solution which can easily be undone by my brother. :) It would be nice
to know of a way to hide the hard drive so that only the OS running on
it could see it.
