Does Windows XP Pro offer any ability to trace the route
of an attack when the system detects a scan or probe? If
so, how can I reconfigure it?

Why waste your time it will accomplish absolutely nothing. Just ignore it
and move on if your computer is protected. Unless of course you are
receiving Top Secret communications from NASA or some other government
agency.

OK, here's the thing about being stealthed on the net
because of the firewalls you use: you're not fully
stealthed if your system tries to track an attack. I
always scan for security holes through the Shields Up web
site. The scan I last had informs me that my personal
security measures were probing them because of the
simulated attacks the site tests with. I've already
determined that Norton Internet Security 2004 and
BlackICE PC Protection and NOT the cause of the outgoing
probe, so that just leaves Windows XP. How do I stop
Windows XP from initiating the probes?
