How do I check to see if the security patch is already in
my system? I may have downloaded it during one of my
periodic updates?

If it is not, how do I know which to download, XP 32 Bit
or XP 64 Bit? Can someone out there help me? Thanks.....
 
D/L the 32-bit version. 64-bit computers are so expensive (in the
neighborhood of $15,000) that if you are not sure which you have - then you
have 32-bit.

The history file is called iuhist.xml located in C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4.
This is a hidden directory, please change your view
options to show hidden files and folders.

(Control Panel > Folder Options > View)

Go to Start
double click Control Panel
double click Add or Remove Programs
look for the program "Windows XP Hotfix KB823980 if it's
listed you have it. If not try re-installing.

Look in the "iuhist.xml" file for:

<title>Security Update for Windows XP (823980)</title>

<installStatus value="COMPLETE"

This would indicate that the

"Blaster Worm: Critical Security Patch for Windows XP"

was successfully installed.

| where nnnnnn is a number, nothing like MS03-026, i guess
