When I log off I am seeing a message that says "other
people are logged on the this computer. Shutting down now
will cause them to lose data. I am running a Dell
Dimension with cable but is not networked. Do I have a
security problem?

Not necessarily.
You will get that message if you have multiple profiles and at least
one other profile is still logged in when you shut down.
