Searching word 2002 documents for dropdown values

if i create a word document form with dropdown controls, the selected text that is saved with the document will not be found when doing a search using my computer. what is going on? it will work for input controls

Dropdowns sort of exist outside the text flow... What's the purpose of the "searching"?
