Searching newest messages first?

In Outlook 2k3 when I search for a message it starts with the oldest
messages and works its way up. Can I set it to start the search with the
most recent and work towards the older?

You should be able to change the display order by clicking on the "received" panel on the bar bar at the top of the inbox

I have done that but when I search I still see the messages with the oldest
date found first.
