I've found plenty of third-party tools to search across multiple pst
files for duplicates, but perchance is there any inborn ability
(however hacky it may be) that Outlook has to search for cross-pst
dupes? If not, is there any open-source tool that anyone knows about?
Thanks,
Methinks I've found what I was looking for. If I understand correctly,
I could import the email from all of my pst files into one "Mega PST"
and select the option to not import duplicates. From there I could
export emails according to dates so that I could have smaller, more
manageable pst archives based on date or something similar.
The only thing that I'm sure on is how duplicates are searched for. Is
it some kind of full text comparison or does it simply look for two of
the same object within a container? My conecrn is: What if there are
duplicate objects, but in different folders. E.g. the inbox of one pst
file has the same message that is in the drafts folder of another pst
file. Would the duplicate be caught during the import? Hmmm... If I
get time in the near future, I'll experiment with that... unless
someone already has a similar experience to share.
Thanks.
