Searching for paper files

I thought it would be simple to make a table of all our paper files in
our office, then set up a switchboard that would allow someone to
login, then search by a keyword to find a file and Voila! all the info
on where to find it etc.... would pop up. In theory it sounded simple,
but somehow I can't seem to be able to do this (probably because I
always hated Algebra :-).

Can someone tell me how to go about doing this? So far, I've built my
table to include all the categories of the paper files, I have my empty
switchboard in place, but how do you have someone type in a word and up
pops the related files? I've searched all over the net and just get
more confused. I can't be the only one doing this! Can someone give me
step by step general instructions (ex. 1. Create table, 2. Go to
switchboard and create unbound box, input from tblFileNames, 3.
etc.....
sorry, I have a learning disorder when it comes to technical relations
(though I find SQL instructions easier to understand than the auto
buttons). But I know I can do this once I get pushed in the right
direction.
Thank you in advance......
Kris

Thank you, but I can't open the program as it is read-only and I can't
get past the DocMgr box.

You may have copied it to a read-only drive (like a CD ROM). Open Explorer
and reset the file attributes to allow you to open the file. If any of
Microsoft's "security" messages get in your way, turn them off. Always check
all your files with an anti-virus program to ensure you aren't getting
garbage.
