All of a sudden I don't have the search with the dog anymore and now when I
click on customize all I get is the exact same screen with nowhere to
customize anything. It says ShopNav Search and the box says "brought to you
by DRSN Search. I don't like this search. How can I change it? The
instruction in Windows XP help don't work. They say to hit customize and
choose my search engine from there. Nope. No place to choose anything
anymore.

Help please.

It sounds to me as if you have inadvertently downloaded some spyware,
adware, or hijacker. I had a very similar problem that cropped up as I was
doing an anti-adware scan. All of a sudden, I got several nasty effects,
one of which was that I could click on "Search" but it wouldn't open at all.
Totally inert.

I did a System Restore. Fortunately, my most recent Restore point was only
two hours before I had run that anti-adware software. After I restored my
system to its earlier state, the next thing I did was uninstall the
anti-adware software. Sure, I still get pop-ups and must have some adware
on my computer, but at least my basic functions are still working.
