After using the Search for Files & Folders option the results window showed
that I had two copies of every file. When I deleted one its twin disappeared
too. Can anyone explain?

TIA

Hi Stuart,

Have you checked the location of the files? I mean, the entry in the "In Folder" column is same in both cases?

Yes, the files are shown as being in the same location.

Stuart,

From a previous newsgroup post:

<quote>
ok, i have determined that this phenomenon occurs ONLY on files that are
located inside the folders that Windows recommends for organization: My
Documents, My Videos, My Pictures, My Music, etc., etc., etc....

so I ended up creating a new folder for my pictures, deleted the old "My
Pictures", and then renamed the new created folder to the same "My
Pictures". Everything is the same (even the customized icon), the path is
identical... but since it was a folder that I created, the files no longer
show up twice on the search results.

seems like some kind of bug. I even double checked all the sharing
properties of the original folder and the new one that i made, and it was
identical.
