Search Page or Form

I want visitors to be able to search my site. I've tried adding a search form to my home page but when I publish it and search for something all of the website reports are shown. My question is one, how do I fix it so the reports won't show up in the search results, and two, how to I create a search page if I decide to go this route? I didn't see a "search page" template
