Search in Individual Drives or Folders? Not working anymore...

At one time I was able to choose exactly what drive(S) I wanted the search
feature in Windows XP to "Look In". Now I only have general choices, i.e.:
My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, My Videos, Desktop, and My Computer.

There are no "plus" signs, and no way to expand My Computer to choose
individual drives or anything. Those are my ONLY choices. How do I get
back the flexibility I once had for my "Look in" option box?

Thanks for any help!

Open Start/Search.

Click the down arrow to drop the 'look in' list.

Note the "Browse" item at the bottom of the list.

That's the problem. The ONLY thing in my "Look In" drop down list is what I
stated in my previous post. There is no Browse, or anything like that...
It's ALL (My Computer) or NOTHING... Sucks too, considering there is nearly
200Gbs of files and folders it has to search through... Would be nice to
just pick which of the 5HDs to search in, or even the specific folder...

I don't know why our systems are doing different things, but I can tell you
that if you open explorer to any folder, and then open search from the
toolbar, the 'look in' will have that folder or drive as a default.

Tried that just now and, unfortunately, that didn't work as you described
either. There was nothing listed in the "look in" menu box, and when I
clicked for the drop-down menu, I still had the same options as previously
stated...

There must be something screwed up somewhere, maybe something in the
registry got scrambled. This is most disappointing...

Won't hurt to reinstall search

Show the hidden files and folders
Rightclick C:\Windows\Inf\srchasst.inf
Click install.
The required file is in ../I386 folder on the XP CD
