Hi,

my search and explore function in explorer still does not work, anyone
experienced the same ?

anyone know if i could be missing a component ?

Thanks

Cato

yes, did not help.

Search, Open, and explore function all result in error message:

"windows could not find the device 'c:\ " , if i am on the root ....

then it opens up another explorer window ...

Cato,

I misundertood your question at first place.
You problem doesn't see to be related to the Search engine but may rather be related to shell namespacing.

Can you check if your image include "Shell Namespace Extensions", "Shell Namespace Registry Data" and "Shell Core Registry Data"
components?
If not, add these components, resolve thier dependencies and see if it helps.

KM,

I got them in as well.

hum, ...i dont't get it.

Cato,

Did I mention the most important one for you - "Shell Explorer Registry Data"? Sorry, I just missed it.
Basically, I just want to confirm that you've got these registry keys in your image:
[HKCR\Shell\shell\open\command]
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\shell\open\command]
[HKCR\Publishing Folder\shell\open\command]
[HKCR\Folder\shell\open\command]

Yepp,

got "Shell Explorer Registry Data" and "Shell Explorer Registry Data (Pro)"

I have the mentioned keys except for this one:
[HKCR\Publishing Folder\shell\open\command]

rather
be related to shell namespacing. "Shell
Namespace Registry Data" and "Shell Core Registry Data"

Also,

my shell is not explorer, but my own application.

Could this cause the problem ?

Cato,

Well.. This is important info as if you don't implement Explorer Shell you don't get some shell pieces working (like namespacing,
etc.).
One more lesson for me to ask about the components included in to the configuration upfront.

So, did you try adding "Search Assistant User Interface" component?
