Search function disappears in W2K

When i install SP on a W2K machine, the Search files and folders did
not work anymore

Novell Client32 installed, and Local Security Policy modified for
usage on a Novell Authentication environment

Tests i made:

Win2000 GOLD: Search for files and floders, OK
Win2000 SP3 Local and domain Users with Power Users /Admin privileges
can do search for files and folders
Win2000 SP4 Local and domain Users with ONLY Admin Privileges can do
search (Right clinck on My Computer and F3 did not work, but in
Windows Explorer, clicking on the Search button, the left side of the
screen works fine for files and folders

In what way does it not work, you click on the program and it hangs? Or does
an error message pop up? Which SP?
 
me too...after reinstalling Office97 or patching Windows 2000 server with SP4, when i click [Start] -> [Search] -> [for files and folders] => nothing happens
