Search for type of file

Don't know when it started, just tried to search by file type and only a
dozen or so file types show up, as opposed to the usual hundred or so. Is
there a way to reset or repair this?
 
I've tried every option, system folders, hiden files, etc - and no
additional file types show. Tried System Restore, too.
