Search field in Word 2007 not working

When I open MS Word and I try to open a Word file by typing part of the name
in the “Search†field at the top right-hand corner, no files are displayed.
The same name written in the “File Name†field at the bottom of the screen
returns the list of files beginning with that same word; therefore, I know
the files are there.

Instead, I receive a message which says, “No items match your searchâ€.
Below that, it shows a symbol of a blue folder superimposed with a magnifying
glass. Beside that is written “Search in File Contents.â€

For some reason, when searching for a file by using the “Search†field, the
directory to the left changes from the current path to a blue folder with the
superimposed magnifying glass followed by “Search Results in Documentsâ€. I
think that must have something to do with the problem.
 
If you have a Search box in the top right of the Open dialog, then it's
supplied by Windows Vista, not by Word itself. (If you run Word 2007 on
Windows XP, there is no Search box.) It's exactly the same search facility
that appears in the Computer window (the file management program) that you
can start from the desktop or from the Start menu -- does that work to find
files that you know are in the current folder?

If neither of them works, you need to ask about it in a forum about Vista,
