Search does not work

XP SP1 and all auto updates installed. Indexing service is on.
Indexing is enabled on the file properties mentioned below. Search is
set to search all files: system, hidden, sub folders, etc, and not
case sensitive.

Search does not work.

Example: I have a file named pix config.TXT created weeks ago in My
Docs. A search of All files and folders in My Docs or all of drive C:
or All Drives for "pix" or even "pix config.txt" (no quotes) shows no
hits.

Any ideas, experiences, etc, would be appreciated!

XP search is not world class, IMO. Configuration improvement can be made.
But rather than fiddling with it, I suggest Agent Ransack. You may be
pleasantly surprised, and the price is right.

I think this is resolved now...

Couldn't chkdsk the drive, so did it from recovery console prompt,
errors were found and corrected. Now search works okay.
