Search Companion

I turned off the search companion feature. It now doesn't come up at all. Did I delete it entirely? How can I get it back?
 
Do you mean the search companion that is accessed from your toolbar? If you don't see the 'magnifying glass', then, right click an empty spot on your toolbar, click 'customize', then, on the left you will see a list of things that are available to add to your toolbar, the search option should be listed. Just click that and add.
 
I have the "Magnifying Glass" on the toolbar, but when I click on it, the 'search companion' that appears on the left side of the screen is totally blank and not usable. Any ideas?
